Naval Base Sec Sch 3pm -
1-0: Farid - wicked corner that bundled in off a defender from his magical left foot
2-0: Hilsann (Rahman) - what a way to score on one's debut, the youngster (only one year younger than Farid), scored on Rahman's pass with a veteran-like finish that was perfectly placed into the low far corner, away from the GK as it should be
3-1: Sashi - needed a 2nd chance after spurning his 1st attempt, pouncing on a ping-pong loose ball from the GK and def
Thanks to Yongsheng and Kelvin for bringing their friends over.
1st half, excellent. Farid had come close with a freekick that struck the crossbar before scoring on his next chance. Hilsann then scored after a great build-up from defence.
In the 2nd half, we defended deep but very well in the 2nd half, and relied on the counterattacks. Sashi had at least 3 almost one-on-one chances while I almost added with a fk of my own that again struck the crossbar. We then conceded a goal (poor one, perhaps) and defended nervously for the remainder of the match until Sashi finally scored to secure the 3-1 win.
Thanks to all players who masterminded this victory. Tired legs were inevitable but the new wingers (Liyong, Terence, Hilsann and Din) were all impressive and key to our win. But our defence did well too in the sweltering heat to play its part. Let's carry on.
MOTM: Ernest, was the driving force in the first half behind Sashi. Balanced attack and defend game and covered in the 2nd half at RB too.
Notable mention: Saifudin, been months since his last game but I finally got him to play and he formed a formidable partnership with Azman Azmi with aggression and composure on the ball. Ability to dribble out was wonderful to see. Hopeful we can get him more regularly.
