Compassvale Sec Sch 3pm -

First half
1-0: Shahril's long ball was headed by a Dynamo player into his own goal
1-1: A dubious freekick decision led to a wonderful cross into no man's land. An opponent stole in front of me to volley the ball into the net
2-1: Sashi controlled my long kick deep in the opponent's half to score a wonderful goal into the roof of the net

Second half
3-1: Dynamo failed to clear Ken's corner. Sashi's effort was hacked at the goal-line only to fall nicely for Rafeeq to tap into an empty net
4-1: Syawal marked his excellent debut with an astounding freekick attempt that crashed into the underside of the bar

MOTM: Probably myself with 2 crucial saves early in the 2nd half when the opponents were on the ascendancy. But my vote goes to Shahril for leading the team all the way.

match173: 2 Dec 2012 vs. unknown team, same opponents last week (yellow) 2-5 loss

HT: 1-1 FT: 2-5

Yazier (Akim)

Bobos (GK)

Khai Mohd - Rasyidin - Marcus - Daniel

Huang - Akim - Azmi - Rafeeq - Farid

Sashi

Greenridge Sec Sch 3pm -
Goals:
1-0: From a throw-in on the right, Sashi flicked a header for Rafeeq who deftly scored with a Van Persie-like finish.
1-3: We needlessly gave away the ball when retaining possession was the better option. The opponents scored from the swift counterattack. They scored 2 more goals to make it 1-3 in the 2nd half.
2-3: My miscued lobbed through pass was misjudged by the GK, and Yazier's hard work and chase was rewarded as he tapped in the loose ball.
2-5: The opponents scored 2 more goals. The 4th goal was poor, as Bobos had made a fantastic save, and I was guilty of not following through to clear the rebound.

We played the same opponents last week, both teams with many changes made. Our team especially was heavily patched-up with Rafeeq and Yazier playing in central midfield and the returning Rahman and Yazier our only substitutes. Khai was also injured midway in the 2nd half and it was up to us to dig deep for a mental challenge even as we decently coped with the physical and fitness aspects of the game.

Our early goal gave us confidence but we then gave conceded a careless goal. It was destined to be a disastrous match at 1-3 down but Bobos' heckling and frustration spurred on the team as we fought back to narrow it to 2-3. The referee's awful decisions, especially one mistaken offside call, plus Farid's poor shot on target that could have made it 3-3, gave back initiative to the opponents who scored 2 more goals, of which I was guilty with one. Farid, who had a good outing otherwise as a winger, also could have put bathed himself in glory had he converted a similar chance in the first.

I had an awful game. My passes were mostly awry where it mattered most. I will have to buck up on this.

MOTM: Farid missed 2 shots on goal that would have capped his otherwise good, and almost MOTM display. Bobos is the MOTM this week, making a few wonderful one-on-saves which were masked by the scoreline. His attitude to keep us in contention at 1-3 down was passionately answered by our brave, albeit a brief and unlucky fightback.

match172: 25 Nov 2012 vs. unknown team (yellow) 0-1 loss

HT: 0-1 FT: 0-1

Bobos (GK)

Huang - Azmi - Akim - Farid

Omar - Azman - Rahman - Kariim

Syaifudean - Sashi

Subs:
Ken

Greenridge Sec Sch 3pm -
Goals:
0-1: The opponents cleverly played a through ball which the striker did well to control and finish calmly past Bobos for the only goal of the game.

After a week's break because of my wedding last week, it was back to business. Unfortunately the bench was not looking as deep as it should with Kelvin pulling out sick and Marcus was MIA. Syaifudean and Omar returned to the team though. We were troubled by the opponents' pace and that led to the only goal of the game, and the opponents threatened on the counterattack with their speed in the 2nd half, even as they opted to sit deep while we dominated possession. Rahman's 1st half effort looked to have gone in but the GK made a fantastic save while Kariim's 2nd half header was bundled off the line. Omar's pot shots also tested the opponents while Ken's shot from a corner was punched away by the GK who had an impressive and solid game. All in all, it was a very good effort from us despite the loss, and I hope we get a good run of wins in the last month of the year starting next Sunday.

MOTM: Huang's pace when he converted to centreback in place of Azmi, who took up the DM role, helped the team's ultimately futile effort in search for an equalizer. Huang takes the plaudits today.
