Last Sunday finally happened. The match with Macheda which was postponed before if i could remember because of very light rain meant that now Kambing Fc has met each and every team in Division 4. Macheda has strung some impressive results prior to our meeting and has been one of the teams to look out for, thumping other teams by several goals and that is such testimony for their attacking prowess. We expected the game to be a tricky one, to say the very least.

The day was slightly overcast, but still humid, though it can easily be said conditions were much better than the normal hot humid day suitable for torture more than anything else. We started with a makeshift 'experimental' defence, playing Firul in the heart of defence with Imran whom wasnt feeling well, with mus and shafi patrolling the defensive flank. I started with muhammad in the centre of the park, Amin to the left and Farhan to the right. Rafeeq and Dean were the assigned 'assasins' to put us into the scoresheets, though Rafeeq was a bit too excited in being assasin for the day which would earn him a yellow card later in the second half, right after slamming hard on a brick babaty wall.

We started the game positively, and Macheda seemed to struggle to keep themselves in the game for much of the early part of the first half. KFC settled down pretty quick, perhaps due to both the familiarisation between players and also the fact that we came earlier onto the pitch, and having sufficiently 'warmed up' for the game, and so surprisingly we managed to outplay Macheda whom were pretty much stubbed in almost every outlet of their attack. Just as The Macheda midfield started to get themselves stuck in, a swift free kick from Muhammad to release Farhan whom was lurking on the right wing, caught the Macheda defence unawares to slot in the opening goal. 1-0 to KFC, and at such a devastating time for Macheda whom have only started to up their game.

The inertia of our momentum made it hard for Macheda to suddenly stop our attacking forays and soon KFC came up with excellent team play starting from the right flank, totally outstripping their left flank redundant through a passage of good play before Amin powers in the rebound, coming in from the left, with the Macheda defence in disarray.

That goal probably woke Macheda up and they started to bite back into the game, with the introduction of their strong right winger to help out the right flanks which honestly found problems knicking the ball away from Amin. KFC were for the first times in the match under pressure and we cracked. Macheda squeezed in through a congested middle after a corner (i think) to put the ball under Bay's arms and into the net. That goal before the break was key. It jolted every KFCian into memory of our self-inflicted demise time and again.

2ndHalf.

Seeing the potential danger we had in collapsing 'ala Newcastle' we employed a five man midfield, after seeing how robust the Macheda midfield can get. Amin sat back to scamper the ball away from the defence while Mus replaced the sick Imran after being relieved of his wing duties by Firdaus. Kelvin was the lone man upfront and was told to fight and keep possession of the ball for the team. The attacks had to start from somewhere, and it had to be bridged by our man upfront. Hopefully this would be enough to stop Macheda in their tracks.

Macheda was chasing the game, and for the early part of the half, some stellar KFC defending won the psychological warfare for the team and the defence made it a scrappy play for Macheda, which disrupted their flow to the game. Macheda grew increasingly frustrated which led them to use 'hopeful' rather than calculated or intelligent passes to stretch our defence further. They seemed to be less organised and KFC made them play the game just how KFC wanted them to play.

However that is not to mean KFC didnt string any attacks on our own. As Macheda pushed men up forward, KFC hit them on the break a few times. Azman's distribution found Farhan up lurking free on the right flank assimilar to the first goal but Farhan couldnt convert. He was given another chance from an identical situation, and this time he didnt disappoint, rolling the ball near post past the onrushing keeper. It was 3-1 now and Macheda were now desperate for another goal, but it was going to be difficult against a spirited KFC display.

This they tried though, and they got close, but Bay put his body on the line to close down the angles of a free MACHEDa player to successfuly block the ball in its path. In the end, they couldnt break the defence and the team looked happy enough to maintain and sit on the lead, given the crestfallen attack from Macheda. We have secured the 3 points.

This match reflect one of the few times we managed to get the psychological advantage over our opponents. We built and worked on our advantage, though for a while we were threatening to suffer from yet another collapse. In my honest opinion we played according to our own advantage, and made Macheda chase the game giving us opportunity to hit them on the counter attack. Good finishing by our attackers won the day for the team, but the brave defence put on an equally good show to frustrate the advances of our opponents. Everyone did well in sticking to their assignments. Kelvin looked to build on his gameplay, having won possession and bridged the passage between defence to attack. Omar too looked to be back in form after being fairly successful in nullifying opponent advances on the right flank. In the end, the team worked together to achieve a result which is a complement to our collective and individual efforts that day.
