Kambing FC dominated this fixture and was rewarded with a handsome victory that also featured our first clean sheet in both friendly and social competitve matches since Sep 2009. Due to about half the team involved in exams, 3 players made their debut. The only sore point with the 3 points? We only garnered two due to the automatic one point deduction as a result of Rashid's silly yellow card, which made it a total of 12 for the season. Nevertheless, we savoured a convincing victory.

Danial confirmed his attendance in goal. Imran and Firul formed the heart of defence as Rashid was given the license to roam forward at left-back. Azman returned after a few games out to slot in at midfield alongside Muhammad and Huang while debutant Ken started at right midfield and Helmi completing the quintet. Rafeeq was given the striker role.

From the start, we controlled possession in the first half, a rarity for us in the division this season. As a result, we only had to be patient and knew the first goal will come. Rashid got into the referee's book mere minutes into the match when he needlessly kicked away the ball after conceding a free-kick in the opponents half. He rightly earned a rebuke from Firul, which threatened to escalate but Rashid realized his lapse and played on soundly to contribute to the first goal of the match.

Helmi received Rashid's pass on the left flank and laid off a pass towards Azman in the penalty box. Azman beat two markers and prodded in the ball from close range. The early goal helped us settle down and we controlled the first half like we never did before. Ken was a notable presence on the right flank and had three golden opportunities to score on his debut, which was sandwiched by Huang's fabulous cross to Rafeeq while Muhammad also let slip a marvellous chance when he blazed his shot over just inside the penalty box.

Sarcofargo mustered a few threats and while we had to be on guard for their approach in our half, we dealt with the threats comfortably to the extent that Danial did not have to make a single save. There was danger however when a loose shot from the halfway line struck our crossbar which could have led to an embarassing goal for Danial to concede and just because of that, it was imperative we scored more to have a more comfortable grip for the remainder of the match.

After the break, there was a comfortable pace to the game which was not helped by the weather but the team kept its cool. Sarcofargo was desperately unlucky not to have level the score early in the second half when a rare defensive lapse opened up an opportunity for Sarcofargo outside our penalty box. The player was all alone and picked his spot from there and shot across our goal. Danial gave up on making a save but the ball cannoned off the upright. We had to step up the pace from then on as anything other than a victory will surely be an injustice.

We finally got the important second goal when Rahman won the ball in midfield. He charged with the ball towards the opponents goal and cleverly picked out Helmi who had made a key off the ball run on his own. Helmi shrugged off his marker who had tracked his run well but Helmi maintained his composure to slot the ball pass the GK. There was a sense of frustration by the opponents perhaps when Huang suffered from a needless ugly challenge which left him with bruises on his ankle after the game but again cool heads prevailed.

Rafeeq scored the third goal from bizarre fashion. The GK had made a routine save but was knocked down by his team-mate and the ball fell from his grasp. Rafeeq pounced immediately and toed in the loose ball into an empty net.

It was a comprehensive victory for Kambing FC in a while. I mentioned cool heads on a couple of occasions and it was true. The team matured in this match with the sort of temperament that may have wilted late in the first half when the energy from the team was obviously sapped under the sun. Our opponents had two great chances to equalize and a surge of momentum from either chance may well have led us to flip out. While it was fortunate the momentum did not happen, the assured defending of Imran and Firul plus the distribution of Danial paved the way to a deserved clean sheet, Danial's first for the team. Two well-taken goals also gave us the chance to get a grip on the game and while a victory was marred with the knowledge that we came away with only two points, the team played very well today.
