Changkat Changi, as with Queensway, is officially no longer on our booking list.

After the disappointing but important learning curve from our 1st tournament last November, we are now on a good run of 4 wins in 5 games. After this win, we have also scored 4 goals in each of our last 3 games, which we have all won, proving our capability in terms of firepower. Our defence have been superb too deserving credit for providing the base for us to move forward, at times initiating swift and threatening build-up play from the back. I certainly hope that we shall have such good turnout in the upcoming future games as familiarity breeds understanding and improvement in teamwork, rather than contempt

It was with some surprise when I found out that our opponents were my dear old friends from Team of Fate for whom I played for before/in the midst of co-founding this team, I still appear for them now and then when I get the chance. Truth be told, Team of Fate on a good day with a full squad are a real tough team and I enjoyed playing for them. However their main problem recently is in getting players to play. With the CNY festivities still ongoing for this game, this problem was compounded even more as the core of the team are mainly Chinese players.

Typically Team of Fate, the players arrived late as usual, even worse than a couple of the players in this team. Despite being late, they still did not have enough players, so to get the match underway, we loaned 3 of our own players including myself, which I was more than happy to do, despite my weariness from working the night/morning before.

Team of Fate took the lead against the run of play but the lead did not last long. Farhan started the revival, and the flurry of goals, with a left footed shot from outside the box, which was due to poor marking on Team of Fate's part in failing to close him down.

Syaifudean, as shown in the video, scored with a good finish after a piece of simple football that started from a throw-in. Simple goal it may be but Dean's movement off the ball was a good example for our players to learn from.

The half-time score was 2-1 to us though I could have scored the equalizer had I not bundled a great free-kick from Team of Fate's captain away from goal.

For the 2nd half, Team of Fate started with a proper team of their own, albeit with 4 on-loan Sabah players, familiar foes for our team in 2 games previously. It was to be noted though that the other half of Team of Fate today are actually good players and would be invaluable additions to our team. Yet, the unfamiliarity and mish-mash (quote attributed Harry Redknapp who recently said that of his Tottenham team recently) combination of Team of Fate proved to be their downfall.

They would struggled even more to play against a team who have firmly been established with a core group of players who have played quite regularly with one another apart from a few new recent additions.

So it was that we kept up the pressure for the 2nd half. As shown in video, Wilson claimed his 1st team goal when his long punt from his own penalty box lobbed over Jeriel, the opposing GK, reminiscent, but not the same, of Watford's Ben Foster goal against Tottenham's Paul Robinson a few seasons ago. It certainly helped that Changkat Changi pitch was not that lengthy. It was also a shame for Jeriel who kept the scoreline low, before and after this fortuitous goal, with some outstanding saves.

When Kelvin was brought down in the penalty box by Jeriel, no penalty was given, but Huang did well to pounce on the loose ball before being brought down himself, again by Jeriel, and this time the referee awarded a penalty to us.

Fazli took charge and despite his shot being somewhat close to Jeriel, he was able to claim his 2nd team goal.

We went on the offensive even more as the game opened up with Team of Fate trying to salvage pride from a game already lost. Despite the chances created, we were unable to build on our 4-1 lead.

It was therefore somewhat of a sucker punch when Team of Fate claimed their 2nd goal in the last action of the match, one which Wilson should (I bet you know, bro) have done better in dealing with.

Let's carry on our fine form in next week early game at Kent Ridge Sec!
