match23: 3 Aug 08 vs. red-shirted team with gray numbers (round 2) @ Yishun 4-0 win

A 4-star performance from a team that finally exploded into life with this fantastic victory with all the goals coming in the 1st half. Add to that the clean sheet not seen by any of our GK since... amazingly never! Further add that with the King of horror and shocking miss in soccer history ever! Don't remind the author of this post about that ever again.

This victory also meant we avenged our previous 4-2 defeat to the same opponents about a month back.

We are now on a 5 game unbeaten run, the best we have ever had since our first game in January this year.

Farhan got the ball rolling with a speculative shot from outside the box which the GK shockingly failed to hold on to. The GK was to be replaced later in the game.

The second goal was much better worked as yours truly darted from defence to surge forward deep into the opponent's half, played a one-two with Kelvin before taking his time to score for a 2-0 lead.

Omar then took advantage of another horrendous defence slip-up to score his first goal for the team.

Kelvin then scored his 2nd goal in as many games with a well-taken goal.

Going into 2nd half, my only goal was to make sure we kept a clean sheet. Wilson and the entire defence deserved some credit after shutting the opponents out in both halves and though there were threatening moments, they were almost fizzled out almost immediately as wayward long range shots became the only sole source of shots at goal.

Truth be told, our offence 2nd half did not exactly do any better. Various poor throws and kicks from the GK fell to us but we were much too impatient and selfish, going for glory from outside the box at almost every opportunity.

We were winning 4-0 however, so such actions are understandable though personally I will have wanted us to build on our lead. This was later accompanied by THAT miss...

We will now go on a one-week break but 17 August and we will be back.
